1:48 AIM-4 (A, B) Falcon missiles is an accessory covering the early versions of the American air-to-air guided missile of the 1950s.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set covers the first versions of the Falcon missile, that is the variants designated with the letters A and B. They are slender bodies with a cruciform arrangement of lifting surfaces and short control surfaces at the rear, which on a model give away the 1950s immediately.
The Falcon was the first American production guided air-to-air weapon and it was created for interceptors whose task was to stop bomber formations far from their own territory. The early versions differed in the method of guidance: one was steered by the reflection of a radar signal, the other homed on the heat signature of the target. It was precisely a pair of differently guided missiles that was meant to raise the chance of a hit, which is why they were carried together.
The thin surfaces need careful handling; when cleaning the parts up it is best to back them with a finger and work against a firm surface. Gently level the sharp edges left after sanding. Paint the missiles separately from the aircraft and only bring them onto the pylons when they are finished. Check that they all have the same angle; the eye spots a discrepancy at once.
Without a matching aircraft model the accessory cannot be used, so allow for that.
