A set of five turned metal angle of attack probes of the American type in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit, but an accessory for replacing the small plastic sensors on models of American aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package contains five pieces of turned metal angle of attack probes in the American pattern in 1:48 scale. This is not an aircraft model, but a set of small replacement parts that are fitted to a finished model. The manufacturer is the Polish brand MASTER, which concentrates on turned metal accessories for plastic modeling.
An angle of attack sensor is a small rotating vane or conical probe on the forward fuselage that measures the angle between the longitudinal axis of the aircraft and the oncoming airflow. On the real machine it is a very small feature, and on a model in 1:48 scale it comes out only a few millimeters long. At that size injection-molded plastic gives either a shapeless stub or a part so fragile that it breaks off while still on the sprue. Turned metal holds a sharp profile and survives both fitting and later handling.
Five pieces in one package mean you can afford to experiment: sacrifice one part to practice drilling into scrap plastic. Cut the original plastic sensor off with a sharp scalpel and level the area. Drill the hole with a fine bit in a pin vise, not in a power drill; with a powered tool it is easy to go straight through a thin fuselage wall. Glue the metal parts with super glue applied on a pin, so that the glue does not run onto the surrounding paintwork. Degrease the metal before painting and use a metal primer; on parts this small, some builders prefer chemical blackening of the surface to paint, because it does not bury the fine shape under a layer.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
