A detail set from Czech manufacturer Eduard for its Messerschmitt Bf 109G kits in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model or a kit — it is an accessory that replaces the plastic parts of the wing's wheel bays. The set is made by direct 3D printing, contains two printed parts, and does not include photo-etch, masks, or decals.
The Bf 109 received two different shapes of the outer end of the wheel bay during production. The earlier wing had the bay cut at an angular edge — originally because small covers were meant to shield the outer part of the wheel. The later wing had a rounded outer end of the bay. Wings were interchangeable between aircraft, and production of the Gustav ran in parallel at several factories, so you will find both shapes across the Bf 109G series. The shape is clearly visible on the underside of the wing, so a wrong choice will show on the finished model. That is exactly why Eduard offers both versions of the set separately — this one is the angular version. Before buying, check photographs of the specific aircraft you are building and see what shape the plastic in your kit has, then choose the angular or rounded variant accordingly.
Separate the parts from the support structures with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw, clean up the surfaces, and wash them with lukewarm water and dish soap before building. They are glued with cyanoacrylate (super glue). Paint and shade the bays before closing the wing — washes and dry-brushing do the most good here. Use a primer before painting, and use respiratory protection when sanding.
