This exceptional large-scale kit from HPH Models renders the American Boeing B-52 Stratofortress strategic bomber in 1:48 scale. It is not ordinary injection-molded plastic: the large surfaces of the fuselage and the wings are fiberglass, the smaller parts are cast in resin, the transparent parts are in clear resin, and they are joined by photo-etched and metal parts, wet decals and masks. The result is one of the largest aircraft models of all - the finished model reaches extraordinary dimensions. It is an exceptionally demanding build for advanced collectors, certainly not a weekend project.
The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is an American eight-engined heavy strategic bomber with underwing engine pods and a characteristic swept wing. It entered service in the 1950s and became the backbone of the US strategic bomber force - it carries nuclear and conventional bombs and guided missiles, has enormous range and the ability to operate at great altitude. Thanks to repeated modernization it ranks among the longest-serving combat aircraft in history and remains a symbol of the Cold War era.
First wash the mold release agent off the fiberglass and resin parts and clear them of casting blocks; protect your airways while sanding. Given the size and weight of the parts, reckon on super glue (cyanoacrylate), and where needed on reinforcement and careful alignment of the large surfaces. The complete interior, the landing gear and the open bomb bay will all benefit from an airbrush and a good primer for resin and fiberglass. The large size also calls for a well thought-out mounting and space to display it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a kit in resin and fiberglass. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
