Four pieces of the 12.7 mm Browning aircraft machine gun in the AN/M3 version, in 1:48 scale. The parts are made by 3D printing and are meant for use across kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 12.7 mm Browning was among the most widespread onboard weapons of American aircraft. The AN/M3 version is its later aircraft variant, meant for installation in wings, fuselages and gun stations. The barrel with its cooling jacket and the articulated body of the weapon are shapes that are hard to render faithfully in an injection mold.
The package holds four pieces of the weapon in 1:48 scale, made by 3D printing. The fine shapes stay sharp and the barrel keeps a round cross-section even where the kit handles it in a simplified way. The set is not tied to one kit; it comes in useful wherever you want to replace the weapons with more faithful parts or add to the equipment of a workshop or a diorama.
The parts are held on print supports. Cut them off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down with fine abrasive paper so that the barrel stays straight. The material is not polystyrene, so use super glue on the joints. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let them dry. A dark metallic base coat and a dry brush that pulls out the edges work well. Try the parts dry before gluing, so that you know how much room is left in the seat of the kit.
The set is for modelers who care as much about the armament as about the outline of the model. The package contains the weapons only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
