F-4E 2020 Terminator is the designation of the upgraded Phantoms of the Turkish Air Force. The airframes come from the F-4E version, that is a two-seat twin-engine combat aircraft with jet engines and a tandem cockpit, but the upgrade reached the equipment including the cockpit, so the inside of both stations differs from the original machines. A large part of it is visible under the open canopies, and it is useful to have this detail settled during the build.
The set brings colored interior elements printed on a 3D printer and carried on a backing film. The instrument panels, the side consoles and other parts of the cockpit have real relief and are already painted complete with stencils, so painting the small dials falls away. It is the smaller variant of the set: it holds a narrower selection of elements than the full version and concentrates on what is most visible in the cockpit. The shaping matches the F-4E kits in 1:48 scale from Meng.
The elements go onto surfaces finished before the fuselage is closed, so bring the set in right at the start of the build. Paint the surface under the element in the base cockpit shade, clean it and degrease it. The molded relief of the instruments on the plastic is best sanded flat so that the element beds down. The procedure for applying them is described in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer; follow it. Once both stations are finished, check dry that the canopies close and that nothing is in the way. Dip the sheet briefly in lukewarm water, slide the element off the backing paper onto gloss varnish, which is what holds it, and do not use a decal softener.
The set suits modelers who want a legible interior in both cockpits without painting the small instruments, and also those looking for a quicker route than the full variant. The package holds only the sheet with the interior elements. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
