A turned metal detail set, not a model of the aircraft. It replaces the plastic barrels of the Hispano 20 mm cannons in long fairings on a model of the British carrier-based fighter Fairey Firefly in 1:48 scale.
The Fairey Firefly was a British two-seat carrier-based fighter and reconnaissance aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm from the Second World War and the postwar years. In the wings it carried Hispano 20 mm cannons whose barrels projected from the leading edge in extended fairings. These barrels standing out of the wing are a striking feature of the real subject, and a faithful and straight rendering of them does a model a great deal of good.
Cut off the plastic barrels and glue the metal parts on with cyanoacrylate on degreased surfaces. Turned metal gives a straight axis and a sharp muzzle, which thin plastic usually cannot manage. Before painting, go over the metal with a base coat (primer) for better adhesion and make sure both barrels point parallel to each other.
This is not a complete model. The set does not contain glue, paints or a kit.
