This is an accessory, not an aircraft model. The O-max set from Omask contains precisely cut painting masks for the extensive canopy glazing and other clear areas, together with foam (EVA) plugs for the wheel wells. The masks let you spray the canopy frames cleanly, and the foam plugs protect the inside of the wells from paint while airbrushing.

The real subject

The Fairey Gannet was a British carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft powered by a turboprop engine driving two contra-rotating propellers. The AS.1 and AS.4 versions served with the Fleet Air Arm in the anti-submarine role, with a long glazed canopy for a crew of several men.

Use

• The masks are applied directly to the glazing and follow the shape of the frames of the extensive canopy exactly.
• The framing of the canopy is sprayed without laborious hand masking with tape.
• The foam plugs are inserted into the wheel wells and keep paint out.
