1:48 FOCKE-WULF FW 190D-11. BASIC KIT is an injection-molded plastic kit of the rare late version of the German fighter in the basic boxing from Miniart.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the long-nose Dora in the D-11 version from the Ukrainian manufacturer Miniart. The BASIC KIT designation in the name distinguishes the basic boxing from the more richly equipped Advanced variant, with which Miniart builds up its 1:48 aircraft range in parallel. The tooling of this range is modern, with fine surface detail and a breakdown that allows a view of the engine section to be opened up.
The Fw 190 grew up around an air-cooled radial unit, but at the close of the war it received the liquid-cooled Jumo 213 V12 engine. The extended nose and the modified rear fuselage gave rise to the silhouette nicknamed the long-nose Dora. The D-11 version was a late development step: the machine guns above the engine were dropped, so the cowling stayed smooth, and the main firepower moved into the wing, where heavy 30 mm cannon joined the pair of weapons in the roots. Only a few dozen machines were built, enough to take part in the final fighting.
The fine engraved detail of modern tooling deserves careful sanding, as coarser paper would easily wipe the surface away. Dry-fit the junction of the long engine section with the fuselage before gluing. Late German schemes are marked by hard transitions and varying shades of replacement parts, which makes painting a rewarding subject, but it calls for templates prepared in advance.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
