Colored cockpit equipment for the Hurricane Mk.IIC fighter with its four cannon. The sheets cover the panel, the side walls and the area around the seat. The dimensions match the kit from HobbyBoss.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mk.IIC version swapped eight machine guns for four 20 mm cannon and became the most numerous variant of the whole type. It appeared in 1941, when faster fighters had already taken over the daylight fighting over Britain and the Hurricane had moved to attacks on ground targets and to night intruder work. The Merlin XX series engine gave it the power needed for the heavier armament. Structurally it is a machine of older conception: the fuselage is a tube frame truss covered with fabric, which is clearly visible inside the cockpit.
That truss structure is an interesting task for this technology. The tube frames appear on the sheets as a raised impression with shading, so once applied they create a convincing illusion of depth. Up close and from the side, though, it gives away that this is a surface and not real framing. Anyone building with the canopy open who wants perfection combines the print on the surfaces with a few wires set into the side walls.
The film is thin and will not take unnecessary stretching or repeated repositioning. Keep the sheet dry and out of the sun, because the colors fade over time. Lay it on a gloss surface, which keeps the edges from fogging.
Finish the side walls first, then the panel and finally the seat with its belts. Fit the clear canopy only once everything is completely dry, otherwise there is a risk of a fingerprint on a fresh layer.
Anyone building a model with the canopy closed will manage with the panel and the upper part of the side walls.
