A plastic model kit of the Soviet supersonic fighter MiG-21F-13 in 1:48 scale from the Weekend Edition series by Eduard. The kit comes from Eduard's new tooling and, in the spirit of the simpler Weekend boxing, contains plastic parts and Eduard decals. Pre-painted etched parts, masks and resin are not included in the package. The decals cover machines of several users of the type.
The MiG-21F-13 was the first widely produced version of one of the most numerous jet fighters in history (NATO reporting name Fishbed). It was a single-seat supersonic interceptor with one jet engine, a delta wing and a speed of around Mach 2. The armament consisted of a cannon and short-range guided missiles. The type spread to dozens of air forces and was also built under license outside the Soviet Union.
The new tooling guarantees fine engraving and a good fit. It is worth working with a thin cement for plastic and with an airbrush. Because the Weekend boxing contains no masks, prepare your own masking tape for the canopy glazing. A number of machines carried a natural metal finish – a good base and metallic paints in shades that tell the panels apart pay off here; other machines carried an opaque camouflage. Bring out the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
