The Soviet KV-2 heavy tank was created on the chassis of the KV type and carried a tall, angular turret with a 152 mm howitzer. The weapon was meant for destroying fortifications, and the silhouette of the machine is therefore unmistakable: a massive turret high above the hull looks as though it belonged on a tank a size larger. The German army took captured examples into its own units as well and listed them under the designation Pz.Kpfw. 754(r); the letter in brackets refers to the Soviet origin of the vehicle. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject, because a familiar shape gets foreign colors and foreign markings.
The photo-etched parts are etched into thin metal sheet and count where injection-molded plastic comes out necessarily thicker, that is, on sheet covers, eyes, brackets and small equipment. The set is meant for the KV-2 tank in 1:48 scale. Which items the fret holds and where they belong on the model is given in the manufacturer's instructions; the name gives only the subject and the scale.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by tearing them out, or the edge will bend. In 1:48 scale they really are small, so have fine tweezers ready and work over a light surface from which you can find a part that springs away. Run the bends over a straight edge and press along the whole length at once. Apply super glue in a negligible amount, so that it does not flood the surrounding detail. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and go over it with a base coat, or the finish will come away during handling.
The model of the tank, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
