A markings set for the Jaguar in 1:48 scale

The opening part of the decal collection that Xtradecal has put together for the Anglo-French Jaguar attack aircraft. The sheet is used with a kit in 1:48 scale that you already own and serves as an addition to its original markings.

A joint project of two countries

The Jaguar grew out of a joint program of Great Britain and France in the 1960s. The original requirement was for an advanced trainer, but the result was a subsonic strike aircraft with a high-set swept wing, a pair of Rolls-Royce Turbomeca Adour engines and rugged landing gear for operating from rough strips. The Royal Air Force used it in single-seat attack and two-seat training forms and deployed it in the Persian Gulf and over the Balkans, while the French Air Force operated it in Africa and the Middle East. Besides the two founding countries, the Jaguar also flew in India, where it was additionally built under license.

Recommendations for applying

• Gray-green wave camouflage tends to have a slightly grainy surface; even it out with a gloss intermediate coat.
• The fuselage sides are broken up, so soak the decal thoroughly before settling it and move it with a brush.
• Pull the markings down over panels and screws with a decal softener, and prick them with a needle if needed.
• Finish with a matte or satin coat, depending on the era you are building.

The sheet is one for those who like tactical aviation of the 1980s and 1990s and want different graphics on their Jaguar than the ones packed with the kit.
