A decal sheet in 1:48 scale devoted to the South African Air Force in East Africa in the Second World War, the first part of the series.
Responsibility details are not available.
The South African Air Force was one of the Allied forces used in East Africa in the Second World War, that is on a theater that appears in the modeling range only rarely. The machines from there carried Allied national markings and code letters and flew in conditions where dust and sun gave the paintwork a hard time. That is exactly why they are a rewarding subject for a modeler who has had enough of Western Europe.
A decal sheet in 1:48 scale, marked as the first part of the series. Which aircraft types and which particular machines it covers is given in the enclosed instructions, and the color schemes follow them as well. These are classic wet decals, which are soaked in water before application and slid off the backing paper onto the model.
The base must be a smooth gloss coat, otherwise silvering appears under the decal. Cut the motif out close to the print, soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it starts to slide freely on the paper. Settle it with a soft brush, blot the excess water away and help it with a decal softener on broken-up areas. Once dry, seal it so that the edges blend into the surface.
The sheet is for modelers looking for markings that have not been done to death and who do not mind looking the subject up. It also serves well as an addition to a part-built kit whose own decals are used up or yellowed. The kit, paints and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
