Responsibility details are not available.
A set of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX fighter, part number 48064. The sheet is aimed at postwar machines from the Middle East: two documented aircraft of the Israeli No. 101 Squadron of 1949, white 26 and black 10, and alongside them a machine of the Royal Egyptian Air Force with the black letter L and the fuselage number 664 of 1948. The maker is the Polish brand Techmod. This is not a kit and not a finished model.
The Spitfire Mk.IX was the answer to the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190: the proven airframe received a Merlin engine with a two-stage supercharger, which gave the Spitfire back its performance at altitude. The version became one of the most numerous of all and after the war it spread around the world. In the Middle East in particular the Spitfire Mk.IX went through an unusual episode: in the conflict of 1948 and in the years after it, it stood on both sides of the front, and machines of the same type met one another in the air.
A decal holds best on a smooth, glossy clear coated surface; on a matte or roughened base a visible edge stays around the design. Trim each design as close as you can, leave it 20 to 30 seconds in lukewarm water and then slide it off the paper onto a spot wetted with water. Press the air and the excess water out from the center toward the edges. On doubly curved surfaces and over engraved lines a decal setting solution helps. Spray the finished markings over with a protective coat in the same sheen as the rest of the model.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The basic kit, paints and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
