This aftermarket set brings a photo-etched version of the small deck armament of present-day US Navy ships. It covers M2 heavy machine guns of 12.7 mm caliber, M249 light machine guns and SRBOC decoy launchers (a system for rapidly firing chaff and infrared decoys). It is not a ship model but a detail accessory.
Small arms and countermeasure launchers are only suggested in plastic at 1:700 scale. The photo-etched parts make it possible to render them faithfully and delicately, bringing the decks of modern destroyers, cruisers and smaller vessels to life. The set is worth combining with other modern accessories in the same range.
Cut the miniature parts out under a magnifier, fold the three-dimensional elements and fix them with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue. Given their size it is sensible to paint the weapons beforehand and fit them at the end of the build. Work with a sharp knife, tweezers and good lighting.
An accessory for the advanced; the photo-etched parts are no substitute for a kit and are glued with cyanoacrylate.
