Arado Ar 196 floatplanes 1:700 (4 pieces) is an accessory set of four tiny shipboard floatplanes of the Kriegsmarine for warship models, made by Flyhawk. It is not a stand-alone aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set holds four miniature shipboard floatplanes in 1:700 scale meant to be fitted to models of German warships. It is not a kit of a stand-alone aircraft but an accessory that raises the fidelity of larger ship models: on the real vessels the floatplanes were carried on the decks of battleships and cruisers and launched by catapult. The parts are fine and aimed at more experienced modelers.
The Arado Ar 196 was the standard shipboard reconnaissance and patrol floatplane of the Kriegsmarine in the Second World War. A number of large surface vessels carried it for scouting, gunfire spotting and patrols over the sea. In 1:700 scale it makes a striking detail on the decks of battleship and cruiser models.
Separate the small floats, struts and propellers from the sprues carefully and glue them with cyanoacrylate in small amounts. Painting is handled best with an airbrush set to a fine spray; at this scale, masking the canopy glazing gives way to laying the shade on accurately with a thin brush. A light wash brings out the shapes of the fuselage and the floats.
This is an accessory set, not a stand-alone model. Paints, glue and a ship model are not included in the package.
