The photo-etched figures are flat, but when they are sensibly placed and painted they reliably suggest the crew at work on deck at the small size of 1:700. The figures can be distributed around the armament, on the superstructures and along the railings, giving the model life and a point of comparison for scale.
Cut the figures from the fret, bend them gently into a more natural stance if you like, and glue them with a tiny drop of cyanoacrylate. They are best painted with a brush after priming; the contrast between uniforms and bare skin makes them easier to read even on a small area.
