Plastic model of the German half-track cargo vehicle Maultier in 1:72 scale by IBG Models. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Maultier is a German half-track cargo vehicle from the Second World War. It arose from the need to get supplies to units on the Eastern Front, where ordinary wheeled trucks got stuck in mud and snow. Designers replaced the rear axle with a tracked undercarriage derived from light tanks, while the cab and front wheels stayed from the original truck. Vehicles of this group carried the army designation Sd.Kfz. 3 and served mainly for supply and transport in difficult terrain.
The model in 1:72 scale is injection-molded in polystyrene and supplied unassembled. The parts are separated from the sprues and joined with plastic modeling cement. At this scale the finished vehicle spans just a few centimeters, which makes clean work on the small parts all the more important.
Paint the tracked undercarriage before joining it to the body and cab, since the underside becomes hard to reach afterward. Separate the small parts with a razor saw and sand off any sprue remnants. German military vehicles carried gray in the first years of the war, later a dark yellow base with green and brown field-applied oversprays. Dusty tracks and fenders match what the vehicle was used for.
The set will appeal to collectors of Second World War military equipment as well as diorama builders in 1:72 scale, where supply vehicles hold a place just as important as combat equipment. The package includes the kit parts; paints, glue and accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
