A resin set of wheels for the Messerschmitt Bf 109G in 1:24 scale, the type 1 version with weighted tires. It is a detail accessory to a kit, not a model of an aircraft.

The set from the manufacturer Reskit replaces the plastic wheels of the main landing gear with castings in resin with a distinct rendering of both the tread pattern and the rim. The tires are weighted, that is with a contact area and a slightly bulged sidewall, so the model stands on a surface like a real aircraft. For the G series the manufacturer makes two versions according to the type of wheel; this item is type 1. It is not a kit of an aircraft but an accessory to a large model in 1:24 scale.
The Bf 109G, nicknamed the Gustav, was the most numerously built version of the German single-engine fighter aircraft. Compared with the preceding F series it was given a stronger DB 605 engine and gradually heavier armament and further equipment as well, which raised the takeoff weight. A change of the main wheels was connected with that: later machines were given a larger tire, on account of which more prominent fairings appeared on the upper surface of the wing. The landing gear wheels therefore belong among the details by which it can be told which production series a model represents, and modelers often deal with them as a priority.
First wash the resin castings in lukewarm water with dish soap - the paint will not hold on the remains of the mold release agent and the joint will come loose. Cut the casting block off with a saw, level the seating area and do the sanding wet with protection for your airways. It is glued with super glue, and ordinary glue for plastic will not help here. When seating, watch the orientation of the flat part of the tire and the matching lean of both wheels. For painting, a dark gray shade of the tire instead of pure black has proved itself; spray the rim separately and set it apart with a masking ring; fine dry dust on the tread pattern will then give the wheel even more credibility.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
