A polystyrene strip with a cross section of 0.50 x 3.2 mm, length 35 cm. For the rungs of ladders, ties, small frames and battening.
Responsibility details are not available.
Half a millimeter of thickness is the boundary beyond which the material stops being pliable and starts holding its shape on its own. At a width of 3.2 mm this makes a strip that does not twist yet can still be comfortably cut with a knife into dozens of identical pieces. The rod is 35 centimeters long, so it will last even for long series of small parts.
Repeated parts are precisely the domain of this cross section: the rungs of a ladder, the ties of a siding, the battening of boarding, the infill of a railing or the cross members under the floor of a car. In 1:35 the width works out at eleven centimeters and the thickness at just under two, which corresponds to ordinary plank battening.
Apply the solvent cement to the frame, not to the cross piece, or the small part will dissolve before you have seated it. If the strip is meant to be wood, run coarse abrasive or the toothed edge of a saw along the grain over the surface and paint only then; the texture will appear as soon as a darker glaze flows into the grooves. Metal, on the other hand, calls for a smooth surface and sharp edges.
Keep the remnants shorter than a few centimeters in a small box. It is precisely from these that the wedges under gates, the braces in the corners of crates and the shims that level a model come, without being visible in the finished scene.
