The AH-64D is an American attack helicopter with a crew of two seated one behind the other: the weapons operator in front and the pilot higher up at the rear. Both cockpits are glazed with large panels, so the interior is clearly visible even on a model and an unfinished crew station shows at first glance. The set is made for the early form of this machine.
The set consists of colored three-dimensionally printed interior elements on decal paper: the instrument panels and displays of both cockpits, the side control panels, the seats with their harnesses and the small controls. The elements have real thickness, so once in place they stand proud of the surface. A three-dimensionally printed resin part comes with the set as well. The breakdown matches the Academy kit in 1:72 scale.
Quinta film elements of the QD range are applied like a decal. Cut the part out, dip it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the backing paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own, so clean any burrs off the cockpit surfaces beforehand, degrease them and go over them with gloss varnish, on which the element holds most reliably; in broken-up places a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as they would attack the printed resin. The printed part that comes with the set is a different case: remove the remains of the print supports from it, sand the cut, wash and degrease the part and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue, because it is not made of polystyrene.
The set is for a modeler who wants legible instruments in the cockpits without painting the dials with a brush. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
