This item is a modeling accessory, not an airplane kit. It is a set of landing gear wheels made by direct 3D printing from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The set serves as a direct replacement for the plastic wheels in the Bf 109 K-4 model in 1:72 scale from Eduard's own range. The kit itself has to be bought separately; this package holds only the wheels.

What the set offers

The wheels of the late Bf 109 versions have a characteristic tread and hub shape that is hard to mold faithfully in plastic at the small 1:72 scale. Direct 3D printing manages the fine relief of the tire and the detail of the hub considerably more sharply and, above all, without the parting seam that on plastic wheels runs exactly across the tread and has to be sanded away. The model thus gains a more convincing landing gear, the part on which the eye falls first when the finished piece is looked at.

Use

• Separate the parts carefully from the print supports with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw.
• Sand the marks left by the supports lightly and degrease the surface.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate, because cement for plastic will not bond these parts.
• Apply a filler primer before painting, and the paint will then hold reliably.
• Do not paint the tire pure black, because a dark gray shade is more realistic.
