A kit of the early project form of the Horten H IX V1 prototype with BMW 003 jet engines in 1:72 scale. A tailless flying wing from the late phase of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Horten H IX was a tailless flying wing developed in Germany at the end of the Second World War by the Horten brothers. The machine had no fuselage and no vertical tail surfaces in the usual sense; the whole volume was hidden in the thick center of the wing and control was handled by surfaces on the trailing edge. The first prototype built, designated V1, flew without power as a glider and served to verify the behavior of the whole layout. This kit captures the early project form of that machine, which counted on a pair of BMW 003 jet engines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The shape of the wing with its smooth transition into the center is decisive for the whole type, so the main attention during the build belongs precisely to the joints of the wing halves and the cleanliness of the leading edge.
Dry-fit the parts before gluing and watch the relative position of both wing halves, because on a flying wing every deviation is visible at a glance. It is best to fill and sand the joints on the upper surface smooth, otherwise a uniform coat would emphasize them. Paints and glue are not included in the package, so count on your own supply.
The kit will please modelers interested in unfinished and project machines of the end of the Second World War and collectors of aircraft with an unconventional layout. Given the need for careful work on the joints, it is rather a model for a builder who already has something behind him.
The package contains the kit only. Paints, glue and accessory sets are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
