This item is a modeling accessory, not an aircraft kit. It is a detailed set of landing gear wheels made by direct 3D printing by the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The set is designed as a direct replacement for the plastic wheels supplied in the F-14D Tomcat model in 1:72 scale from Tamiya. You will not find a fuselage, wings or decals in the package – all that stays with the base kit, which has to be bought separately.

What the set offers

Wheels are among the parts most in view on a finished model, and at the same time among those where injection-molded plastic runs into its limits. 3D printing makes it possible to render the relief of the tire and the hub more crisply and faithfully than a split plastic mold can – without the parting seam in the middle of the tire, which would otherwise have to be laboriously sanded away. The result is a markedly more realistic landing gear with a minimum of extra work.

Use

• Separate the wheels carefully from the 3D print supports (a sharp scalpel, a saw for plastic).
• Before painting, degrease the parts and sand the marks left by the supports lightly.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) – ordinary cement for plastic will not join these parts.
• We recommend a filler primer, on which paint holds reliably on printed material.
• For a clean separation of the tire from the hub, a mask set or patient work with a brush is useful.
