About product

APH-6D pilot's helmet 1:72 (Firma49)

A standalone resin accessory: a miniature of the American APH-6D flight helmet in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but a small detail part for bringing pilot figures and aviation dioramas to life. The maker is Firma49.

The real subject

The APH-6 was a line of hard pilot's helmets of the US Navy and the Marine Corps, deployed on jet machines from the end of the 1950s and throughout the 1960s and 1970s. It is typified by a rigid shell with a hinged visor covered by an outer shield and by a removable oxygen mask. The APH-6D is one of the later forms of the line.

Usage tips

  • Wash the mold release residue off the part in lukewarm soapy water.
  • Cut the sprue gate remnants and the casting blocks off carefully with a sharp knife.
  • Glue it with a super glue (cyanoacrylate).
  • Sand resin wet and with a respirator.

Who it is for

  • Builders of aviation dioramas in the small scales.
  • Modelers rounding a pilot figure out with a faithful detail.
  • Collectors of fine resin accessories.

It comes unpainted as a resin accessory. The paints, the glue and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
