A modeling set in 1:72 scale on the subject of the American Gato class submarine. The manufacturer's instructions state exactly what the package contains.
Responsibility details are not available.
Gato was a class of American ocean-going submarines from the Second World War. They were large boats built for long independent patrols in the Pacific: they could cover thousands of miles, stay at sea for weeks and carried torpedo armament as well as a deck gun. The hull measured roughly 95 meters, so in 1:72 scale the length works out at about 130 centimeters. A Gato class model in this scale is therefore a substantial piece that needs shelf space and careful storage.
The set is tied to the subject of the Gato class submarine in 1:72 scale and serves for building its model. The manufacturer's instructions give the extent of the package, the parts list and any intended kit; follow them before you separate or glue anything. It also pays to read the whole instruction sheet first and to lay the parts out, because on a large model the order of the steps only makes itself felt at the end.
The hull of a submarine is a long continuous surface on which every irregularity shows. Fill the seams and sand them down gradually through several grits, and inspect the finished surface under sharp side lighting. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Apply the paint in thin coats and mark the dividing line between the underwater and above-water parts of the hull with masking tape beforehand; over such a length a freehand transition never comes out straight.
Paints, glue and additional material are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
