This injection-molded plastic kit represents a turretless assault gun built on the chassis of the German E-100 super-heavy tank. Instead of a rotating turret it carries a fixed armored superstructure with the gun, so the silhouette is lower and wider than that of the turreted version. The maker of the kit is Trumpeter.
The Entwicklung series was meant to bring German armored vehicles together into a few weight classes toward the end of the Second World War. The E-100 was its heaviest member and it got no further than a partly built hull without a turret, which British units found in 1945. The turretless assault gun version on this chassis is a hypothetical subject: period documentation for a vehicle actually built does not exist, and the idea spread above all in modeling and gaming. Treat the kit therefore as a view of what German vehicles might have looked like if development had continued, not as a record of a vehicle that really existed.
The large flat areas of the superstructure call for careful sanding of the joints and a smooth surface, otherwise every unevenness will show. Use liquid polystyrene cement on the plastic and check the barrel against the light once it is glued. Lay the base yellow shade down with an airbrush and keep the mottled camouflage soft. Because the subject has no fixed period markings you have a free hand: a dark wash into the welds, light wear on the edges and dust on the lower hull will give the model conviction whatever scheme you choose.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
