Six finishes for the Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:72 scale, from Guadalcanal through the deck of the Ranger to the Enterprise.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat was a carrier fighter with hand-cranked landing gear and folding wings which bore the weight of the first year of the war in the Pacific and escorted convoys in the Mediterranean as well. It was at the very moment when the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service held superiority that the units on Wildcats managed to hold the defense of Guadalcanal. This sheet in 1:72 scale gives a choice of no fewer than six machines.
Three schemes belong to a single pilot of VMF-223, which is unusual on one sheet and makes it possible to build a series of his successively changed machines. The two finishes from the Ranger, for their part, show the Atlantic deployment including the landings in North Africa.
Before gluing, polish the base and coat it with a gloss layer, thanks to which the artwork will not go matte. On Wildcats the national insignia overlap the panel joints, so it pays to use a decal softener and pressure from a cotton swab. The blue-gray naval finish of 1942 was matte and the white numerals contrast strongly on it, so leave the matte coat until the very end. The model and the paints are not part of the supply.
