A plastic kit of the German 10.5 cm light field howitzer leFH 18/18M in 1:72 scale from Zvezda. The model is conceived as a snap-fit with a low part count, so the parts can be joined without glue too, and crew figures are part of the set. The kit faithfully captures the split trail carriage, the wheels, the barrel with the muzzle brake of the 18M version and the gun shield. It suits a standalone artillery element as well as part of a diorama.
The leFH 18 was the standard divisional howitzer of the German army, introduced in the middle of the 1930s. It became the backbone of the artillery support of the infantry and armored divisions throughout the Second World War and it was supplied to Germany's allies as well. The 18M version received a muzzle brake, which allowed a more powerful charge and extended its range. The howitzer was built in large numbers and served on every front.
Separate the parts from the sprue and clean up the mold seams. On a snap-fit design the joints can be secured with a drop of thin cement for plastic for strength. A base filler and an airbrush suit the gun; glue the movable split trail arm according to the pose you choose. Paint the crew figures separately from the gun. Fine-tune the patina of dust and mud with washes and pigments, which will settle the howitzer into the terrain.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints are not included in the package; on a snap-fit design the parts can be joined without glue.
