The Macchi MC.205 Veltro (greyhound) is regarded as one of the best Italian fighters of the Second World War. It came about by reworking the earlier MC.202 type to take the powerful German Daimler-Benz DB 605 inverted V12 engine, built under license in Italy. The stronger powerplant markedly improved its speed and its performance at altitude, so the Veltro could hold its own even against the leading Allied fighters. It entered service in 1943 with Regia Aeronautica units and after the armistice was declared it flew on both sides of the Italian conflict. Only a few hundred machines were built, which makes it a prized and less common type.
Separate the parts from the sprues with a cutter and clean the surfaces up with a fine file. Use liquid modeling cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting. In 1:72 scale the details are small, so careful masking and thin application of the paint with an airbrush pay off; Italian wartime camouflage schemes tend to be striking and photogenic. Pick the panel lines out with a subtle wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
