Wing leaders' initials and squadron codes on one 1:72 sheet. Six Mustang III machines of Polish RAF units from 1944 and 1945.
Responsibility details are not available.
British practice allowed a wing leader to replace the two-letter squadron code with his own initials. On this 1:72 sheet, therefore, ordinarily marked machines of rank-and-file pilots meet the aircraft of three holders of that privilege, which makes it interesting material for anyone building Polish Mustangs.
Skalski was among the most successful Polish fighter pilots and his name is borne by the unit that fought in North Africa. Horbaczewski led No. 315 Squadron during the period of hunting V-1 flying bombs and was killed in action in August 1944. The three command aircraft with two letters are therefore a fairly rare chance to build the machine of a particular historical figure.
The skin of the Mustang is smooth and painted, and a decal holds on it well even without further preparation. Even so, it pays to lay a glossy layer under the artwork and, once dry, to unify the whole model with a semi-matte coat so that the edges of the film disappear. The set holds the printed sheet and color drawings.
