Postwar Lancasters on an Xtradecal 1:72 sheet, the second part of a series aimed at the career of the four-engine bomber after 1945.
Responsibility details are not available.
Most decal sheets for the Lancaster aim at wartime raids. In this series Xtradecal goes a different way and concentrates on the period when the bombs were no longer falling. Part two follows on from an earlier release and widens the choice for modelers who find the peacetime career of the type more interesting than its combat one.
After the war ended, hundreds of airworthy Lancasters were left without a task and found new work. Some went over to maritime patrol and searching for survivors, others served for photographic mapping, test flights with new engines or crew training. Several countries took the type into their own colors, and in one of them it stayed in active service into the early 1960s. With the new role came new finishes as well, often lighter and more conspicuous than the wartime night black.
The fuselage of the Lancaster is long at this scale and large lettering is laid onto it in sections. Work from the middle toward both ends, and before you let a piece go, check the lengthwise alignment against the engraved lines. Once dry, leave the model to rest for at least a day before you start on the clear coat.
The shipment holds the decal sheet itself, not a plastic model.
