An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet frontal fighter MiG-29 in the 9-13 version in 1:72 scale from Zvezda. It is a newer tooling with a finely engraved surface and decals for machines of the Russian and Soviet Air Force. It is a classic kit glued with modeling cement – it is not a snap-fit set assembled without glue.
The MiG-29 is a twin-engine fourth-generation frontal fighter developed in the USSR, known in the West under the name Fulcrum. The 9-13 version differs from the early machines in its enlarged dorsal fairing behind the cockpit, which holds additional fuel and equipment. The aircraft is marked by an aerodynamically clean, blended fuselage, a pair of fins and high agility in maneuvering combat; it was used by a number of air forces around the world.
Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and sand the split surfaces of the fuselage carefully. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting. The typical gray camouflage of Soviet and Russian machines is best handled with an airbrush; the transitions between shades and the weathered look of the panels are underlined by fine washes in the engraved lines. It pays to paint and highlight the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
