Pre-cut self-adhesive masks in 1:72 scale intended for the canopy glazing of the Italian SIAI-Marchetti SF-260 trainer and light combat aircraft. The designation makes clear that the set corresponds to the late version with the more bulged shape of the canopy, which differs from the earlier shape.

Why the type of canopy matters

The SF-260 flies in many countries in a number of versions, and the shape of its sliding canopy changed during production as well. The mask is cut for a specific geometry, so the set for the late bulged type will not fit the older shape or the other way around. If you are not sure which variant your kit represents, lay the mask on dry and check whether the edges follow the engraved lines of the frame. This step takes a minute and saves you having to redo the whole glazing.

Usage tips

• Lay it on dry and verify that the shape of the mask corresponds to your version of the canopy.
• A low-wing trainer tends to be in bright colors. With a saturated red or yellow, count on an undercoat, otherwise the paint will not cover what is beneath it even after several coats.
• Leave the cockpit with its good view open so that the interior stands out. Then remove the mask at the very end, after the varnish on the airframe has dried.
• Keep the small unused pieces of the sheet for masking the position lights and the landing lights.
