The Titans Hobby riveting tool, set number 3, with a spacing prepared for the 1:48, 1:43 and 1:35 scales. It creates a regular row of rivet impressions on the surface of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Riveting is a small thing on which the impression of a whole model surface rests. Marking it out freehand with a needle gives an irregular row, and every deviation shows once the paint is on. A riveting tool unifies this work: it produces a row of fine impressions at a constant spacing, and all you have to do is run it along a prepared guide.
Set number 3 has a spacing that matches the 1:48, 1:43 and 1:35 scales. It therefore covers smaller aircraft models, car kits and military vehicles. Rivet spacing depends on the scale, so the same tool does not suit markedly larger or smaller models, where the row would look inappropriately dense or, on the contrary, too sparse.
Mark the line out in advance with masking tape or a flexible ruler that will guide the tool. Work with a smooth stroke and a steady, rather light pressure; the depth of the impression grows with pressure, not with the number of passes. Make a test on an offcut of sprue from the same kit, because plastics from different makers differ in hardness. When you are done, knock back the burrs around the impressions with fine abrasive or a glass fiber pen, otherwise the paint will emphasize them. On curves guide the tool in shorter sections and reposition it more often.
For the modeler who restores riveting after filling and sanding, or adds it where the kit has none. The package contains the tool; the model, templates and paints are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
