This injection-molded plastic kit captures the Soviet heavy tracked tractor Komintern, that is, the vehicle without which the heavy artillery did not reach its firing position. It is a rewarding companion to models of guns and howitzers as well as a subject for the display case in its own right. The kit is made by Trumpeter.
The Komintern was built by the Kharkiv locomotive works from the middle of the 1930s. Its running gear and a number of other parts were derived from the tank technology of the day, so the tractor coped with ground that wheeled vehicles could not manage. Behind the enclosed cab it carried a cargo bed with benches for the gun crew and a towing device at the rear. It towed heavy artillery including 152 mm howitzers, served in the Winter War against Finland and throughout the Second World War, and in the role of heaviest tractor it was replaced only by the more powerful Voroshilovets.
Finish the chassis and the suspension before you seat the cab and the cargo bed on the frame. Use liquid cement for polystyrene on the plastic and separate the small parts with a sharp knife so that the detail is not lost. Apply the base green shade with an airbrush, render the wooden parts of the cargo bed in a warmer brown tone and bring them to life with oil glazing. The tractor is a working machine, so do not spare the mud and dust on the tracks and around the running gear; that is exactly what sets the model apart from a freshly built vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
