It is not a kit but a replacement part for a model you have already bought. The set contains a turned metal barrel of the 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 gun together with a resin muzzle brake and gun mantlet. It is intended for models of the StuG III assault gun in the Ausf. F (late) and Ausf. G versions in 1:72 scale from MASTER.
In 1:72 scale a plastic barrel is very thin and bends or breaks easily when it is taken off the sprue or during ordinary handling of a finished model. A turned metal part is straight and concentric over its whole length and has a real bore, so you do not have to drill the muzzle out laboriously with a micro drill. The resin muzzle brake and gun mantlet add sharper edges and finer transitions than an injection mold can hold at this scale.
First cut the plastic barrel and mantlet off and level the mating surface with a file, so that the new part sits without play and on the correct axis. Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent before gluing, because mold release agent residue prevents paint from adhering. Bond with super glue or two-part epoxy and degrease the metal part with alcohol beforehand. Apply a primer intended for metal surfaces to the metal, or the shade will rub off during handling. At the end, darken the muzzle and the face of the brake with pigment or a dark wash.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a complete model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
