A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale with the technical and maintenance stencils for the Supermarine Spitfire in the versions from Mk I to Mk XVI, part number 72062. The instructions are split over two sides, one for the Mk I to Mk V versions and one for the Mk VIII to Mk XVI, and for the later versions they offer three layout options for the stencils on the upper surfaces. The maker is the Polish brand Techmod. These are supplementary markings, not a kit.
Technical stencils are the small production and service markings that an aircraft carried all over the airframe: warnings by moving parts, instructions for fuel and oxygen filling, labels on access panels, walkway lines on the wing or marks by the ammunition bays. They changed with the versions just as the armament did: from the Mk I of the late thirties, through the most numerous Mk V and the high-performing Mk IX, to the Mk XVI with its license-built Packard Merlin engine of the end of the war. It is precisely these stencils that turn a smooth surface on a model into a machine in use.
Apply the small stencils after the large markings and always onto a gloss coat. Cut them out one at a time and carry them over to a wetted surface with the tip of a brush or with tweezers. A setting solution will draw them into the engraved lines and panel joints. Once dry, spray everything over with a protective coat and only then apply washes and weathering.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The basic kit, paints and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
