The set contains one piece of the SUU-11B/A weapon pod with a rotary machine gun (a minigun) in 7.62 mm caliber in 1:72 scale. The part is resin, made by 3D printing, which on armament this small means sharp edges, cleanly defined barrels and details that injection-molded plastic cannot reach in this scale. It is made by Reskit. The pod is hung under the wing, the fuselage or a pylon.

It is neither an aircraft model nor a kit. It is an external stores accessory that is fitted to a finished or partly built model of an aircraft or a helicopter in the same scale.

Use and working with resin

• Wash the part in lukewarm soapy water before painting; that removes the print residue, without which the paint will not hold.
• Cut the supports and printing blocks off with a saw or a knife, and do not snap them off: resin is hard but brittle.
• Sand the cut surfaces; use respiratory protection while sanding, as resin dust should not be breathed in.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue): ordinary cement for plastic does not work on resin.
• Apply a primer before painting; an airbrush gives the best result, and the fine details of the barrels and the latches can be picked out with a brush.
• Check how it sits against the rack on your model: the seating surface may need adjusting, or a pylon of your own may be required.

Who the part is for

For modelers of aircraft and helicopters in 1:72 scale who want faithful external stores and will not settle for a coarsely molded plastic substitute from the box. Working with resin assumes cyanoacrylate glue, a saw, sandpaper and a little experience; for an absolute beginner it is a step more demanding than plastic. It will be appreciated by builders of combat machines of the Vietnam era and generally by anyone who finishes models with an emphasis on armament.
