The set contains two large underwing auxiliary fuel tanks of 2250 liters for the Panavia Tornado in the form used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). It is a resin, 3D-printed accessory for experienced modelers - it is not an aircraft model or a Tornado kit, but external stores with which you complete a finished plastic model. 3D printing gives a clean shape to the body of the tank as well as fine fins and detail on the filling and venting fittings.
The Panavia Tornado is a twin-engine combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, developed jointly by the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. For long-range strike missions, large auxiliary tanks were carried under the fixed part of the wing; they extended the range considerably but also changed the silhouette of the aircraft noticeably. The 2250 liter tanks were among the largest and are characteristic of later British service and of the aircraft delivered to Saudi Arabia.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the print supports off with a sharp cutter or a fine saw and sand the surface down. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) - cement for plastic does not join resin. Use airway protection when sanding, and ideally sand wet. The large smooth surfaces of the tanks benefit from primer and fine polishing before spraying.
For advanced modelers building the Tornado in 1:72 who want a faithful configuration of external stores and a cleaner tank shape than the base kit offers.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
