A plastic kit of the Japanese Type 1 Chi-He medium tank in 1:72 scale from IBG Models. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Type 1 Chi-He was the Japanese army's attempt to catch up with medium tank development, which raced ahead during the Second World War. It was based on the widespread Type 97 Chi-Ha, but received thicker frontal armor and, above all, a welded hull instead of a riveted one, which was a marked step forward for Japanese tanks. In a larger three-man turret it carried a forty-seven millimeter gun, the same weapon that the late versions of its predecessor received. It was powered by an air-cooled diesel engine. Only a small number of machines were built and the greater part of them stayed in the home islands.
This is a conventional injection-molded kit in 1:72 scale, that is, a model to assemble and paint. The range of parts, the number of marking options and any extras are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
First separate the parts from the sprue with cutters and clean up the remains of the gate with a file or abrasive paper. The small scale forgives little, so it pays to glue in small steps and keep checking that the road wheels lie in one plane. The track and the running gear are easier to paint before the hull is finally closed up. Prime before the base coat, use a lighter shade on the edges and accentuate the seams with a dark filler. Dusting the underside of the vehicle gives the model credibility in scale.
The package contains the kit parts and the instructions. Paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
