Infantry in winter kit: American figures of the Second World War, 1:72 scale. From the range of the Ukrainian brand MARS Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Plastic figures in 1:72 scale with which MARS Model adds American infantrymen dressed for winter to its extensive offering on the Second World War. The set follows on from its other American sets, from paratroopers through mortar crews to units from the landings, so a whole company can be put together. The manufacturer carries the same subject in a larger scale as well, if you would like to repeat the same scene in a bigger size.
The winter look of the American infantry became widely known above all through the fighting at the turn of 1944 and 1945. Over their woolen uniform the soldiers then wore a field jacket of impregnated cloth, long overcoats, knitted caps under the helmet and improvised overshoes; in the frost and deep snow layered kit mattered more than anything else. That is exactly why winter figures differ from summer ones so much that they cannot be mistaken for one another, and a scene with them gives away the season at once.
Olive and khaki go gray and damp in winter, so lighten the base shade and pull it toward gray. Overcoats need strong dark emphasis of the folds, otherwise the volume is lost. Make the muddy hems of the trousers and the boots with pigment or a thick glaze. Helmets take a matte surface and only a hint of scuffing on the edges.
The castings come unpainted. Painting materials and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
