AEC Matador and 5.5-inch gun 1:76 is a plastic kit of the British AEC Matador tractor and the 5.5-inch medium gun from Airfix, a reissue of a classic mold in 1:76 scale.

This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:76 scale from the classic Airfix range brings the British AEC Matador artillery tractor with all-wheel drive together with the 5.5-inch medium gun it towed. The kit comes from a period mold of the 1960s, so it has simpler breakdown and a nostalgic character, yet it still offers an interesting combination of a vehicle and a towed weapon.
The Royal Artillery brought the 5.5-inch gun into service in North Africa in 1941 and it became the key medium gun of the British army in the Second World War. The AEC Matador tractor with 4x4 drive saw to its movement and to fire support in various theaters; the crew ran to as many as ten men and the gun fired heavy shells to a long range.
Use a thin glue for plastic and clean up the mold seams of the older mold. Over a primer base, lay British olive green or desert shades on according to the theater. Bring the large wheels of the tractor and the carriage of the gun out with a wash and dust pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
