The basic blue shade from the Acrysion acrylic line. A water-thinnable paint for spraying, it dries to a gloss.
Responsibility details are not available.
The basic blue of this line is clean and saturated, with no shift toward green or violet. That is precisely why it serves as a starting tone for mixing: with white it gives a lighter aircraft blue, a drop of black shifts it toward a night sky and a little green toward the shades of the hulls of fast boats.
The surface has a gloss once dry, which builders of cars and modern hardware will appreciate. On military subjects a flat or semi-gloss varnish is usually sprayed over it as well. It is applied with an airbrush, thinned with water, and the vessels are rinsed out while the coat is still fresh.
This line runs to dozens of shades in bottles of the same format, so the palette can be extended gradually and without surprises. The number of the paint is printed at the top of the label, the name below it, and to the right of the name stands the information about which kind of hardware the shade primarily aims at.
After a longer break in building it helps to know that the pigment settles at the bottom into a harder layer. Stirring it in again takes either thorough shaking for minutes on end or a few stainless steel balls dropped inside. Paint that was not mixed all the way through gives a lighter and uneven tone on the model, and that only shows once it has dried.
