A resin KAB-500S guided aerial bomb in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print manages the body and the steerable tail surfaces in one piece. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung on the pylon of a finished model.
The corrected aerial bombs of the KAB series combine a conventional body with a guidance system and steerable tail surfaces. The version with the letter S differs from the laser and television forms in that it does not need to see the target: it heads for coordinates entered in advance using satellite navigation. The bomb can therefore be used at night or in poor visibility, and the carrier does not have to illuminate the target. On a model you will recognize it by the missing seeker window at the nose.
Release the part from the print supports with a scalpel and wet-sand the pads down, with respiratory protection. The smooth body of the bomb gives away every scratch, so work the sanding marks out with progressively finer grits. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Do the colored bands on the ordnance with thin masking tape or a decal.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
