A resin OFAB-250 aerial bomb in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. Printing in resin captures the ribbing of the tail section and the suspension lugs in one piece, without the parting line that a plastic bomb always has down the middle. It is not an aircraft kit but armament to be hung on the pylon or the multiple ejector rack of a finished model.
The abbreviation OFAB stands for a high-explosive fragmentation aerial bomb, that is a type which acts by blast and by fragments at the same time. The quarter-ton version is among the most widely used munitions of Soviet and Russian tactical aviation, because it can be carried in larger numbers on multiple ejector racks and suits both equipment and lightly protected targets. In photographs from an airfield these bombs tend to be stacked on trolleys right next to the machine.
Release the parts from the supports with a scalpel and sand the spots wet, with respiratory protection. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Munitions tend to be in a single darker shade with color bands, which are handled with thin masking tape or a decal. If you are stacking the bombs on a trolley or on the ground, work dust into the lower surfaces, otherwise they will look fresh out of the wrapping.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
