Sira Hobby Aqua thinner

Aqua thinner from the Czech manufacturer Sira Hobby is a thinner designed for the water-thinnable Aqua range, the liquid pigments and weathering products intended for weathering, that is, for creating realistic traces of wear, dust, mud and deposits on models. It is neither a paint nor a pigment in its own right, but a supplementary liquid without which the Aqua range does not work to the full. The Aqua products can indeed be thinned with water, yet the manufacturer recommends using this very thinner, as it ensures better handling, quicker drying and the coverage needed.

Use

• Thinning the pigments of the Aqua range: setting the consistency according to whether you want a fine hint of dust or a thick deposit of mud.
• Wetting the surface before application: the surface of the model is wetted with the thinner before the liquid pigment goes on, and the pigment then spreads and settles better.
• Regulating the amount of pigment: material already applied can be blended out, softened or partly taken away with the thinner, and the intensity of the effect thus fine-tuned.
• Cleaning the tools: brushes and aids after working with the Aqua products.
• Suitable above all for military equipment, dioramas and figures, where layers of dusty and muddy effects are built up.

For modelers who already use the Aqua weathering system from Sira Hobby or want to start using it. The thinner is the logical companion to the liquid pigments: without it you can work with water, but with the thinner the result is more predictable and the work quicker. It will be appreciated above all by builders of military models and dioramas who want to move a model from a clean toy to a realistically worn machine. Suitable for beginners in weathering as well, as the Aqua pigments are forgiving and an overdone deposit can be thinned down and adjusted.

The thinner is an auxiliary chemical product, not a paint. Use in a well-ventilated area, avoid contact with the eyes and skin, and keep out of the reach of children and away from food. Follow the instructions and the safety markings given on the packaging by the manufacturer.
