The DIO SET range from AMMO of Mig Jimenez brings together in one package the products chosen for one particular diorama theme. This set is aimed at brick walls and ruined buildings, that is at a surface that keeps turning up in dioramas: outer walls stripped of plaster, broken-out reveals, heaps of rubble and the bare brick core under fallen render.
On urban bases under a tank or a vehicle, on vignettes with figures and on standalone dioramas with a ruin. It will serve just as well on small items such as a brick wall along a road, a chimney or a well. The set is not tied to one scale; you go rather by how coarsely the surface of the model is rendered.
A brick wall never has just one color. After the base tone, shade the individual bricks into warmer and cooler positions, so that the surface is not monotonous. Deal with the joints only afterwards, with a lighter material drawn into the recesses and wiped off the face. Down at the foot of the wall add dust and fine rubble; above the window openings, by contrast, add dark traces of fire and of water running down. Work in thin coats and let each one dry, or the shades will merge into one flat surface. Fix loose pigment at the end, so that it does not come off while the diorama is being handled.
For the modeler who is building a diorama or a vignette and wants the products for brick ruins in one place, matched to one another in shade. The package contains only the products of the set; the model, the building, the base, brushes and tools are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
