A resin KM-1 ejection seat in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. This is the seat associated with the MiG-21 and MiG-23 aircraft. In a small scale the seat is the only piece of the cockpit that is really visible under the canopy, and the plastic version from a kit tends to be coarse and without belts. It is not an aircraft kit but a replacement part.
The KM-1 is a Soviet ejection seat of an older generation, designed for the fighters of the sixties and seventies. Its appearance differs from the later designs: it has a more angular build, a differently resolved headrest and a simpler restraint system. That is exactly why mixing it up with newer seats on a model leaps out at anyone who knows the real subject, and why replacing a coarse plastic part makes sense.
Release the seat from the supports with a new blade and level the surface underneath it. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the base shade, lift the edges with a dry brush and darken the recesses with a tone. Paint the belts in a different tone and suggest the buckles with a fine tip.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
